Lakaï Arts is an organization that brings people together through the Afro-diasporic arts. The dances and traditions of the Afro-diaspora all stem from community. We want to spark conversation, collaboration, and joy, and we believe that the arts are the perfect way to do that. We want the local community to have access to the many different aspects of the Afro-diaspora, from the different dances, songs, and instruments to the history and culture of the people. Once we have captured the hearts and attention of the people, we will provide them with access to resources and use the opportunity to hear the community out on what they need. We will do this by partnering and working with local pre-existing organizations. Lakaï Arts wants to honor the spirit of community and collaboration, and we don’t see a better way to do that than through the arts. Using the arts as a conduit toward community empowerment through our after-school programs, events, performances and workshops. Providing resources is the goal and the arts is our vehicle.
